Hi all, my idea works very well for people like myself who find holding books a bit awkward. Digital radio, the one on your computer allows you to listen to stories written by famous authors. It does not take myself long to become "Inspired" again. And with a varied selection of stories and poems there's something there for everyone.

Hi Sheila and Susan -thanks for getting back to me. Good to know you're out there. Looked up your poem Sheila - liked it a lot - especially the surprise ending!! To Susan's query, my short story is called the wicked weed and any advice would be welcome.

Hi Sheila and Cathy - I too am a new writer but cannot contribute as much as I would like to as there is never enough time. I have really enjoyed reading the short stories and poems and am impressed by the standard. If your articles are available for comment I shall read them right now and hopefully you will know that there is someone out there!

Very interesting tip Mick. Will give that a try! I find that reading a poem or story out loud is very helpful. You find where the punctuation should be.

Here's a tip for anyone out there that writes long pieces of work in Microsoft Word. If you have a name or phrase that is repeated constantly through the piece of work, type in a non-word like xxx instead. Then after completing the piece, go under "Edit" and select "Replace". Then, in the appropriate boxes, replace xxx with the desired name or phrase.........easy!

Hi Cathy! Yes that's how I feel. Noone seems to be listening or commenting. I've put on 2 poems but not sure if it's worth carrying on. Glad you feel the same - there doesn't seem to be many of us!

Hi Sheila. I too am a new writer and new to this site. I check in every so often but feel that no one is listening - I've had no response to my first story - no words of welcome to my first post on the forum. Beginning to feel that no one is out there! Anyone else feel the same? I don't feel confident enough to comment on others stories or poems - what do I know? Is that what others feel? i don't know that either but would love to know. please reply.

Regarding Em's tip about using a dictaphone : Have you ever tried taping ongoing work - especially dialogue? Listening to the flow of words between characters (or not as the case may be) can help immensely.
