publishing
Can anyone tell me. If a story is published here does it mean it can't be published elsewhere? Might sound stupid - but - is publishing on the web the same as "Publishing?"

Yeah, I agree with Paul. The internet sure changes everything! I personaly am proud (yes I admit it) to have my stuff on this site - as proud as I would be to be published on paper.

Nice to have that cleared up, I beleive the definition of publishing is changing as the internet evolves. Internet publishing is cutting edge so we should be pleased to have a site like this one and with hard-copy-publishing so tough to break into, I welcome internet sites. The changes happening in the music industry with downloads now making up the charts is also happening with creative writing. At last, we all have good access to the whole world so agents and publishers, hard-nosed-breeds some of em', should soon find themselves chasing the money instead of rejecting the talent.
Paul.

Hi Cathy,
I telephoned Disability Writes and asked about your publishing question. I was told that the team would explain about publishing by putting a new section on the home page. true to their word and within an incredibly short time....they did just that !
regards

Hi Cathy,
To be honest, I'm not even sure where the published work on here ends up, there seems to be very little information as to whether work will end up in a book or will remain here. If it remains here, i hardly think that it should be gioven the title "published", I mean it's not as though everyone will be aware of it's existance.
I have had stuff published in Magazines and the only clue I can give to your question is that I have had to sign documents to give a magazine permission to use my work. Only one magazine has told me that I cannot publish the same piewce of work elsewhere and on a number of occaisions, i have had the same poem or story published in two or more magazines. I'm fairly new to having stuff published though, so please don't take my advice as correct.
If you wish to talk on a more one to one level, please feel free to email me on :- mickward58@yahoo.co.uk. Maybe we can figure this out between us. meanwhile I'll try to contact the people that run this site and try to glean some info from them.
I hope this has helped.
